Tree Planting in Eugene

Tree Planting Guided by Landscape Experience Since 1981

Tree selection and placement should reflect the space available for roots and the mature canopy, as well as sunlight, soil, and drainage. Nearby structures, pavement, utilities, and maintenance access also shape where a tree belongs.

We approach tree planting as part of the property’s complete landscape system. Drawing on decades of experience in the Willamette Valley, we coordinate tree installation with existing landscape design, irrigation, landscape maintenance, and how people use the site.

Call (541) 502-3811 to discuss tree installation for your Eugene estate, commercial property, or HOA-managed grounds.

Tree Planting for Estates, Commercial Properties, & HOAs

Large properties require planting decisions that support both the immediate setting and its long-term management. We serve residential estates, commercial grounds, and HOA-managed properties throughout Eugene and the Willamette Valley.

Large Residential Estates

On an estate, new trees may need to complement gardens and lawns while providing screening or defining circulation areas. We consider each planting within the broader property rather than treating it as an isolated improvement.

Commercial & HOA Grounds

Commercial tree planting can affect entrances, shared spaces, parking areas, walkways, and sightlines. Placement must also preserve access for routine grounds care. On HOA properties, trees should suit the function of common areas and the established design.

Placing Trees Within an Established Property

A suitable location accounts for the space branches and roots can occupy as the tree matures. Buildings, pavement, utilities, drainage patterns, and service access can determine whether a planting area will work over time.

Irrigation is part of that larger system. Because we provide irrigation services alongside landscape installation and maintenance, we can consider new trees in relation to existing site-care needs. We use green-friendly products and back our work with a strong warranty.

One Team for Installation, Irrigation, & Ongoing Care

We coordinate installation, irrigation, and maintenance for clients responsible for substantial or intricate properties. Consistent crews become familiar with each site, while clear communication keeps property owners and managers informed.

Our team communicates in English and Spanish. When an issue needs attention, we respond within days rather than weeks.

Choosing Trees for Eugene Site Conditions

The right tree depends on both the planting area and its intended function. Shade, screening, wind protection, seasonal interest, and habitat value call for different characteristics, while available growing space determines what can fit as the tree matures.

Conditions vary across the Willamette Valley. Wetter areas and drier upland sites require different considerations. Compact spaces near pavement, locations beneath overhead wires, and areas with limited root space present additional constraints.

Private Landscapes & Public Rights-of-Way

Planting on private property isn’t the same as planting a street tree in the public right-of-way. The City of Eugene requires a planting permit before a street tree is planted. Property owners and managers should confirm whether the proposed location is within the public right-of-way before work begins.

Caring for Trees After Installation

Young trees need continued attention during their first several years after transplanting. Watering should reflect the weather, soil, drainage, and establishment needs of the site rather than follow one approach for every property.

Mulch can help retain soil moisture, but it should remain clear of the trunk. Irrigation and future maintenance should be considered before installation so responsibility for ongoing care is clear from the start.

Tree Planting Questions

What Site Conditions Should Be Reviewed Before Planting a Tree in Eugene?

Review the available growing space, sunlight, soil, drainage, nearby pavement or structures, and visible overhead or underground obstructions. The tree’s intended function and future maintenance needs should also guide selection and placement.

Does Planting a Street Tree in Eugene Require a Permit?

Yes. The City of Eugene requires a planting permit for trees in the public right-of-way. Confirm the boundary before work begins because this requirement doesn’t apply to every tree planted on private property.

How Should a Newly Planted Tree Be Watered and Mulched?

Watering should be adjusted to the weather, soil, drainage, and the tree’s establishment needs. Mulch can retain moisture and protect the root area, but it should remain clear of the trunk.

How Can Your Team Coordinate Planting With Irrigation and Maintenance?

We consider how new trees relate to existing irrigation, access, and ongoing grounds care. This broader view can help property owners and managers establish clear responsibilities after installation.
